Geographica is a legible, four-style serif family modeled after the neat hand-lettered place names and peripheral text on the maps of Thomas Jefferys (ca. 17101771), the best-known cartographer in 18th-century England. Jefferys won (and hyped) the title “Geographer to King George III.” but was more an engraver/publisher than a geographer, mostly relying on the materials of others; still, his maps of the North American colonies were well known. Geographica combines a sort of hand-drawn warmth with a distinctly historical flair. Its long serifs and ample x-height will add classic elegance to long blocks of text or display type, whether on paper or screen. OpenType features include small capitals and two stylistic sets of titling caps, along with a slew of unique cartographic ornaments and full Latin supportmore than 1,200 glyphs in all. US$99.

RANDOM SIGHTING: |
KIND WORDS: |
I have never encountered such fine and detailed work in a handwritten font before. I heartily applaud your attention to detail and historical accuracy. J.W., Seattle WA
I've never seen anyone digitize old quill-pen handwriting [like Schooner Script], warts and all. You've done a fine job. R.W., Costa Mesa CA
The Lamar Pen font is divine. We are using it on a novel set in the eighteenth century, and the author is ecstatic. J.H., London, England
Our 3rd and 4th graders are thrilled that their historical writing is going to look so authentic! S.E., Charlottesville VA
I happened across your website completely by accident, and I was astounded by the fonts I found there. They are amazing. M.S., Ontario, Canada
I'm always on the lookout for handwriting fonts that look more like handwriting than fonts. I've always relied on Texas Hero, Schooner Script, and Emily Austin and was very happy to see Lamar Pen and American Scribe. A.L., Los Angeles CA
I'm a collector of 19th century antiques and photographs, and like to make labels and scrapbooks using fonts that fit the period of my items. I've even tried to learn the penmanship myself using dip pens... your fonts will make it so much easier! P.M., Palatine IL
