In our 25 years of type design, we’ve somehow ended up with an even dozen vintage fonts that replicate pre-1800 source materials—six historical scripts, four old map fonts, and a pair of antique texts. Since history continues to inspire, even in the digital era, it occurred to me that some might appreciate a discounted bundle of these age-old typefaces.
“The Age of Discovery” generally refers to the 400 years between the 14th and 19th centuries, as Europeans set out in great ships to explore the coastlines of the continents of the world. Their expeditions begat the mixed bag of mercantilism, colonialism, and globalization—but also cartography. In fact, old maps of the era influenced four fonts in this collection: Antiquarian, Antiquarian Scribe, Geographica Hand, and Terra Ignota. And because records were kept by hand back then, the bundle also includes Abigail Adams, American Scribe, Geographica Script, Military Scribe, Old Man Eloquent, and Remsen Script. Finally, from Colonial America, came two of our vintage text families, Broadsheet and Castine. All 12 typefaces (15 fonts total) are chock-full of OpenType features and have full Latin support. (The old map fonts also feature numerous cartographic ornaments.) US$149.

KIND WORDS: |
I took one look at American Scribe and knew it was the Declaration of Independence before reading the ad copy. You captured it perfectly. B.P., Marietta OH
I've never seen anyone digitize old quill-pen handwriting [like Schooner Script], warts and all. You've done a fine job. R.W., Costa Mesa CA
I'm always on the lookout for handwriting fonts that look more like handwriting than fonts. I've always relied on Texas Hero, Schooner Script, and Emily Austin and was very happy to see Lamar Pen and American Scribe. A.L., Los Angeles CA
[American Scribe] may be the greatest font ever! Everyone on the planet should have it! M.P., Boulder CO
Bonsai is very beautiful; the font's antiquity seems to conjure a sweet staleness of old newsprint, somehow. A.T., Ontario, Canada
All [these] typefaces are wonderful, romantic creative fonts which no serious designer could possibly overlook. G.H., London, England
I have never encountered such fine and detailed work in a handwritten font before. I heartily applaud your attention to detail and historical accuracy. J.W., Seattle WA
